An evening of improvised live music and painting. “Her name is Sana. Shaking, navigating, oscillating, shivering. She is travelling like a boat in the seas, discovering new lands. How would they sound?” A concept stemming from Basil Theodorou’s album Noice. The audience participated in the collaboration using sound-making objects to improvise a piece inspired by the Jorge Luis Borges short text “On Exactitude in Science”. Besides Basil, the navigators were Lisa Baeyens (Flute, Berlin), Caroline Bordignon (Live Painting, RNCM), Stephen Bradshaw (Violin, RNCM), Abby Clarcke (Graphics, Manchester), Athanasia Kontou (Piano, RNCM) and Rob Oswell (Oboe, RNCM).

First cd release of “A Flute and a Box”, the improvisation project with flutist Lisa Baeyens initiated in late 2015. Recorded live or studio improvisations, solely based on the sound of the flute. HW & SW samplers blend with the classical instrument. Like in a dialogue, the flute and “the box” interact changing from one theme to another. Commenced with the breathing song first performed in 2013 during Paul de Marinis “Séance” workshop at the Medienhaus Gallerie/Udk in Berlin. This way the audience interacted during the whole live.

The “Toilet Room” and “Recipe Room” performance/installations were presented during Alvin Curran’s “Rooms with attitude” workshop at the Kammersaal Fassasenstrasse/Udk. These rooms manifest the arrogance of rule makers. The installations expose politicians to sounds of everyday needs.

The “Breathing” and “Chairs & violins” performances were presented during Paul de Marinis “Séance” workshop at the Medienhaus Gallerie/Udk. In “Breathing” five actors perform a breathing, movement and voice sequence, while in “Chairs & violins” two hidden violin players follow the sound patterns of two actors moving chairs in a highly-resonant space.
